Have you ever spent a day at Kingston wharf trying to clear and collect a barrel? We are speaking from experience, its long ting. Even for local Jamaicans. Its a long ting. Its an unforgiving, tiresome process for inexperinced persons who dont know how to navigate the wharf, and a tiresome process for even the most experienced shippers.
Clearing and collecting a barrel can take a whole day at the best of times. And that’s if your receiver gets it right first time. Many persons attend Kingston Wharf releasing agents and forget their ID, or they bring an incorrect form of ID, and they have to turn back and return to the wharf another day.
But here's a scenario that we come across so very often. When wasted journeys occur to the wharf, many times, the sender in the UK gets a phone call with a request for additional funds to help the receiver clear the barrel. Lets all be honest here, many times, when barrels are sent from London to Jamaica, its the sender that pays mostly all the fees. From shipping to clearing, to paying for the driver in Jamaica to buy a cold beer for patiently waiting all day for the receiver to turn up with Granny’s barrel.
We know that persons in the UK a mostly very grateful to receivers in Jamaica to facilitate barrel receipt and forwarding to loved ones and vulnerable persons who cant attend the Shipping Wharf.
However, due to delays that can occur with the collection process, the price the UK sender ends up paying all the people involved can be a considerable sum.If you’ve sent barrels before, you’ll know what Im talking about.
Also, if you’re a newbie to sending barrels from London to jamaica, you might find this service removes a lot of unknown steps for you.
